For example, it has been one year since wildfires devastated Maui and burned down the beloved, iconic, 150-year-old banyan tree. The tree looked completely scorched. But, lo and behold, she sprouted new shoots and branches and two-thirds of the tree is now growing healthy again. This Newsweek piece has some great images showing the before and after growth of this magnificent tree.
Finally, just to make you smile, here’s a vid I took last week. This was at the entrance of a restaurant in Shelton Washington. The manager said every so often people suggest they remove these guys but he says, “No way.” They’ve been nesting there now for 17 years!
