Well, the good news just keeps coming from the Klamath Dam removal project. As I shared in my last post this is the largest dam removal project in U.S. history, and maybe the world. Just days after the removal of the fourth dam, researchers found wild Chinook salmon migrating upstream into places they hadn’t been able to reach in over a century.
Scientists believed it would take a number of years for the runs of wild fish to make it back into the upper reaches beyond the removed dams. And yet, three days ago, fall-run wild Chinook were discovered in the Klamath Basin, a journey of some 230 miles. Â It took just a few weeks for these wild ones to unleash their ancestral wisdom and swim back into spawning grounds that had been blocked for 119 years.
This magnificent planet will heal when we give her a chance.

UFOs in the Clouds …
Speaking of this magnificent planet, yesterday I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Coming through the Warm Springs reservation in Central Oregon, I was completely captivated by the sky and cloud formations. Here’s a short vid. These saucer-shaped formations, resembling spaceships, are known as lenticular clouds. I had never seen the like before. Just. Simply. Beautiful.
Amazing what can be done with Play-dough. I’m enjoying picturing those beautiful Chinook, thank you!
