History will reflect this was the week when we the people collectively found our footing and our voice, saying, “hell no” to the madmen at the helm. Over the past few days, courts have blocked a number of the regime’s illegal actions, democratic lawmakers have been finding ways to stop, or at least slow, pieces of the far-right roadmap Project 2025, and rallies to protect democracy from the regime are taking place all across the country.
Numerous courts have so far blocked the Despot’s unconstitutional move to declare that not everyone born on U.S. soil is a U.S. citizen, the regime’s attempt to set up a federal employee buy-out program, their grant-funding freeze, and the attempt by DOJ to release the names of FBI agents who worked on investigations into Trump or the Jan. 6 insurrection. Another lawsuit and massive public outcry prompted the DOJ to limit the access Musk and his boys have to Treasury systems. Labor unions just filed lawsuits to put an end to the dismantling of USAID. More lawsuits are in the works.
Organizations with missions to protect vulnerable populations, the planet, and democracy have mobilized. Activists began interfering with ICE raids and helping targeted people avoid being snatched. In fact, it turns out the regime has had less success on this front than they’d planned and have been manipulating Google to make it appear that the raids are taking more people than what is actually happening. Reports from staff reveal Trump is angry that more arrests are not being made.
The Indivisible movement launched a project to make sure the Republicans who are enabling this coup by caving in to Trump will be held accountable in their next elections.
Two environmental Substack publications, HEATED and SciLight, that have large audiences, have set up a hotline for federal employees to securely report industry and political interference in science and science-based decision-making processes. They are collecting reports from federal scientists and employees who witness the suppression or manipulation of science-based information intended to protect public health and the planet.
Federal employees are now standing their ground, refusing to leave, asserting their civil service employee rights, bearing witness, and speaking out.
World leaders are flatly rejecting the Despot’s imperialistic statements about taking over places from Greenland to Gaza. In response to the Despot’s ridiculous ramblings about the Gulf of Mexica, Canada issued a statement that the water body should be renamed, the Gulf of Fragile Masculinity.
Many of us working through independent, non-traditional media like Substack are shining a light on the insanity and sharing facts to counter disinformation. Some courageous journalists in mainstream media are refusing to “sanewash” the lead characters in the regime and are pointing out the depth of the illegality.
Individuals by the thousands have been flooding the phone lines and physical offices of their elected officials demanding action to stop the coup.
And, just three weeks in, growing numbers of Trump voters are beginning to express their disillusionment – there’s even an X (Twitter) channel called TrumpRegrets with voters expressing their change of opinion. I know many of you, like me, are angry at those who voted that way, but it’s important to remember a large chunk of those people are not MAGA idealogues but rather were misled by the false narrative and campaign lies put forward by right-wing and sensationalist media, the Republican party and the Despot himself. As they realize what this destructive regime is actually doing they will become allies in the effort to create a better way moving forward.
So, this past week we witnessed a shift in strategy, resolve, and in some corners a shift toward greater courage. All good, AND perhaps more importantly, these developments reflect a shift in energy and consciousness. In the first couple weeks of the new regime, I heard many people, including personal friends and colleagues, say they were just checking out, that they were too disgusted and exhausted to pay attention, speak up, push back. But now, we the people are recovering and regrouping. The shock and heartache are transmuting into reengagement and resolve. People are remembering our love for democracy, our neighbors, and this glorious planet. Our anger over the election results is evolving into anger at the blatancy, arrogance, and cruelty with which Trump, Musk, and their minions are trashing democracy for their own personal gain.
As ugly as it is right now, many of us sense a possibility that this breaking could create an opening to truly evolve systems and society. The rot of the corporatocracy infects both parties and needs to be powerfully exposed in order for enough of us to demand real change. This new regime is demonstrating just how far and fast the corporatocracy/oligarchy will go to trash the rest of us in a quest for more money and power.
A Course in Miracles makes a distinction between “The World” and the “Real World”. The World is comprised of the layers of illusions, ego-driven lies, and limitations that we have collectively created through fear, grievance and othering. The Real World, is the much more beautiful place we can create when we pull out of the ego-driven perspective, and shift our consciousness from limitation and othering to possibilities and love. I believe we are at a point where the “World”, driven by ego and illusion is cracking, and from here we will indeed have opportunities to co-create a better world.
I’ve heard it said that action is the antidote to despair. This week lots and lots of us have taken that in and risen up. There are more of us who want a better way than those who support the current course. We are not alone and we are not powerless.
Here are actions you can take:
· Keep leaning on your elected officials. Let them know their actions right now will decide your vote. The number of the Congressional switchboard is (202) 224-3121.
· Stay informed and use your voice. Share factual information every chance you get. You might turn off some people but then again you might also plant seeds of reconsideration.
· Maintain hope. Hope is a verb, a choice. Right at this very moment there are beautiful things going on in this world. Evolution is still moving forward. Love is happening.
I’m not a BS’er or a naïve Pollyanna – this is going to be a long, hard haul; we are going to lose things, and beings, we care about. But, I truly believe those of us who want a world that works better for all beings have what it takes to stand strong. There are always more possibilities than what are readily apparent; we can come through this better, stronger, and kinder than we’ve ever been before.
In love and solidarity. We are in this together!

Now that’s what I needed! All the good shit happening tallied up against all the bad! There is not “nothing I can do” so I surely agree that we can talk to people and more. In addition to “How are you? Oh I’m fine and you?” and so on. “Well I’m fine enjoying the great weather but feeling very angry about my country being dismantled so I went to this protest on Friday, and I felt good about showing others how I feel.” Etc., etc.!! Thank you Cylvia 😀😀.
The energy is building!
